community arts factory
2018-2019 research and user consultation.
summary/ Arts facilities are factories for producing community. They draw people together to share, express, and enjoy important histories, stories and reactions to our world. In doing so, they open space for reflection, communication and the creation of memories for diverse communities of all ages.
The vision for housing the Stratford Arts and Culture Collective inside the Grad Trunk building is one that strives to respect the histories of the site and appreciate the traces of years past on the remaining shell. Continuing in the theme of the site as an important factory, the new space becomes both a high-tech factory for the production of a closer community and a whimsical space for escape, play and relaxation.
