This project explores the extended threshold. Semi transparent sliding doors which allude to man-made beehives and their multiple boundaries create a soft and soothing transition between the bee-keeper’s private residence and the library. The doors allow for the flexible creation of intimate spaces for reading or looking out at the bees and gardens, making the transitory space a destination. Slight variations in windows and seats in the concrete sections, the continually altering positions of the doors and the changing light conditions over the course of each day as well as throughout the year make for unique, yet comfortably familiar experiences.
